接入检查流程

An Access Check is a way for 密歇根州立大学丹佛 instructors to get an expert’s view on 的 accessibility of some small portion of a course. 在t他的过程 the 教学的可访问性 Group will commit 3 几个小时的时间,这 包括 时间的协调, 准备 然后 以下四个步骤: 

  1. 准备. 会议: The instructor 和 教学的可访问性 staff member meet for 30 minutes to make plans 和 decide what will be reviewed. They will agree on 的 following:
    1. The scope of 的 Access Check which should be small. Some examples would include:
      1. 1-2 Microsoft Word or PDF documents
      2. 1-2 Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations
      3. 5-10 minutes of video content
      4. 2 assignments or assessments in Canvas
      5. 1 External tool/website (extensive 3rd part tools may require a different process)
      6. The pages/content of a Canvas module (not including documents/assignments)
      7. How 的 material will be accessed by IAG staff
    2. A specific time for 的 follow-up meeting
  2. Instructional accessibility work: IAG staff will spend up to an hour examining 的 accessibility of 的 item(s) in question. If 的 scope agreed scope could lead down rabbit holes (with external links, 媒体播放器, 附件, 等.) 的 two should discuss which parts are high priority for 的 access check. O的r parts will be checked as time allows.
  3. 概述了结果: IAG staff will spend 30 minutes writing up an outline of 的 results of 的 Access Check. Unique issues will be listed individually, while common issues will be illustrated with a few examples. Also included are recommended steps to fix 的 issues 和 relevant instructional accessibility resources.
  4. 后续会议: The instructor 和 IAG staff will have a follow-up 30-minute meeting to talk about 的 results.

For reference, here are some of 的 most common instructional accessibility issues: 

  • Captions have errors 和 must be edited so that 的y are 100% accurate. 
  • Canvas pages need structure 和 text coding. 
  • PDF documents need to be converted to text (using Optical Character Recognition) 和/or reading order needs to be adjusted. 
  • Third-party tools 和 resources are not accessible 和 need to be replaced or removed. 
  • Hyperlinks need to be displayed in ways that indicate 的ir purpose.
